Thirumoolar -- 2

The Murthi of the great saint Thirumoolar in HIS temple in Thiruvaduthurai near Kumbakonam.

Hymn from Thirumanthiram:

English Translation:
It is but to see the GURU's Holy Form
It is but to chant the GURU's Holy Name
It is but to Hear the GURU's Holy Word
It is but to muse on the GURU's Holy Being,
Thus it is the soul its illumination receives.

Venky,

Nice one!

Next time I go to Kumbakonam, I will not miss this temple!

And the hymn was very profound. Clearly explaining the purpose for which the senses exist.

One of my favourite verses in Tirumandiram which I have really experienced. Seeing the form of the Guru with the eyes, gives clarity of mind's vison. Hearing the words of the Guru, Chanting the Name of the Guru and Meditating upon the Form of the Guru - all helps to know the Guru or Dispeller of Darkness within. This is one among the 10 verses, volunteers of Akshara Foundations have chanted in the Tirumandiram audio cd - (a review of which is there in my blog. Aham)

And interestingly, the actual Guru that we worship, is Dakshinamoorty, the person who doesn't speak. In this verse too there is no mention of the Guru teaching or saying anything.

Venky: This is available at the Akshara Foundations in Chennai. You stay in Pittsburg I guess. I may visit Chicago in December and will carry them with me. You may get it then or if you happen to be in Chennai sometime.
*Arjuna: My reply to your e-mail was returned. How do I post on this blog?
